DSRP Overview

The Diversity Scholars Research Program (DSRP) is primarily based on performance and academics andprovides scholarships for mainly minority students who are recruited and selected Freshman and first year scholars are immediately placed  in a research setting to enhance their learning.  Based on the students’ needs, the program director searches for and selects faculty members and other professionals to  mentor the students’ research activities.  Research mentors are primarily IUPUI faculty and in some instances can be members of the corporate sector.  The goal is to have the mentor and scholar work together to develop a scholarly research project during the next four years. The program staff provides individualized support to the students on an “as needed” basis.

New scholars may choose form a variety of majors at IUPUI and admission is highly competitive. The scholarship provides financial support for payment of tuition, mandatory course fees and a stipend for books and supplies each year. Since 2004, limited financial assistance with on campus housing has been provided.  The scholarship is continued as long as  scholars maintain a minimum 3.0 (B) cumulative grade point average each semester and meet other program requirements.
